Aujourd\u2019hui, la phytoth\u00e9rapie moderne utilise les multiples effets scientifiquement prouv\u00e9s de la plante.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: var(--awb-text-color); font-family: var(--awb-text-font-family); font-size: var(--awb-font-size); font-style: var(--awb-text-font-style); font-weight: var(--awb-text-font-weight); letter-spacing: var(--awb-letter-spacing); text-align: var(--awb-content-alignment); text-transform: var(--awb-text-transform); background-color: var(--awb-bg-color-hover);\">Les m\u00e9decins grecs appelaient cette plante \u00abchapeau de pluie \u2013 petasos en grec\u00bb en raison de ses feuilles pouvant atteindre plus d\u2019un demi-m\u00e8tre de large. Le \u00abchapeau de pluie\u00bb se retrouve aussi dans le nom g\u00e9n\u00e9rique latin (Petasite) signifiant \u00abchapeau\u00bb. Son nom allemand lui fut attribu\u00e9 au Moyen \u00c2ge: comme la peste \u00e9tait souvent trait\u00e9e par des cures de sudation, les gens \u00e9taient convaincus que les substances sudorifiques (diaphor\u00e9tiques) contenues dans la poudre extraite du rhizome de la plante \u00e9taient efficaces contre la peste.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Une plante m\u00e9dicinale depuis l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9<\/h3>\n<p>Le p\u00e9tasite appartient \u00e0 la famille des Ast\u00e9rac\u00e9es. Cette plante herbac\u00e9e vivace prosp\u00e8re dans toute l\u2019Europe. Les fleurs rouge\u00e2tres du p\u00e9tasite officinal (Petasites hybridus), utilis\u00e9es en m\u00e9decine, apparaissent peu apr\u00e8s la fonte des neiges, et sont caract\u00e9ristiques. Le p\u00e9tasite pousse l\u00e0 o\u00f9 il y a souvent de l\u2019humidit\u00e9, par exemple sur les berges des ruisseaux et des rivi\u00e8res. \u00c0 la fin de la floraison, les feuilles en forme de c\u0153ur s\u2019ouvrent. Avec leur pilosit\u00e9 gris\u00e2tre sur la face inf\u00e9rieure, elles ressemblent \u00e0 celles du tussilage, raison pour laquelle le p\u00e9tasite est \u00e9galement appel\u00e9e \u00abtussilage \u00e0 grandes feuilles\u00bb ou \u00abfaux tussilage\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Ses feuilles \u00e9taient d\u00e9j\u00e0 utilis\u00e9es dans l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9. Lors de fouilles arch\u00e9ologiques dans la mine de sel de Hallstatt, des feuilles de p\u00e9tasites en fagots vieilles de 4000 ans ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couvertes. On suppose qu\u2019elles servaient de papier toilette, car les substances contenues dans les feuilles aident \u00e0 lutter contre les infestations parasitaires (vers). Il est \u00e9tabli que les Grecs et les Romains avaient recours \u00e0 ces feuilles pour traiter les ulc\u00e8res malins.<\/p>\n<p>En m\u00e9decine traditionnelle, les effets antitussifs, sudorifiques et diur\u00e9tiques de la plante \u00e9taient au premier plan. Les feuilles fra\u00eeches \u00e9taient en outre utilis\u00e9es en application externe pour traiter les plaies et les l\u00e9sions cutan\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<h3>Le p\u00e9tasite dans la phytoth\u00e9rapie moderne<\/h3>\n<p>Le p\u00e9tasite a des propri\u00e9t\u00e9s antispasmodiques, antalgiques, anti-inflammatoires et antiallergiques. Utilis\u00e9 seul ou en association avec d\u2019autres plantes m\u00e9dicinales, le p\u00e9tasite figure dans les pr\u00e9parations de la liste D en Suisse.
